As estate agents we’re very experienced in helping people to move, however, our sector was recently put under the spotlight for how much physical movement we do ourselves. In AXA PPP’s first ever ‘FIT-SE’ Index – a study into the physical activity of industries – property workers have been found to be the least active in the UK.
The research, which looked at the time spent being active by individuals, including commuting and during-work hours, shows that estate agents exercise for 42 minutes a day in comparison to industries such as IT and Law – 1 hour 58 minutes and 1 hour 25 minutes respectively.
To be ranked as the least active workers came as a surprise to us. At Redbrik, we’re proud to champion health, wellbeing and fitness, and we regularly come together as a team to take on new sporting challenges.
Just a few weeks ago we completed our 150-mile Charity Cycle Challenge – teaming up to create an inter-office competition to see who could complete the equivalent distance of a return trip from Sheffield to Anfield in the fastest time on static bikes.
The team all came together to support each other, and we ended up smashing our charity target raising more than £1,000.
Our staff also recently swapped their office attire for football kits at a special fundraising match at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium. The match saw Redbrik claim a 4 – 3 victory over Sheffield United Ladies and the game raised £1,500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Ashgate Hospicecare and The Children’s Hospital Charity.
We’re also very proud of our involvement in the Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathon – now in its second year – which features a 5 Mile Challenge and Wellbeing Challenge as well as the main Half Marathon and a one-mile Fun Run. In 2017, 800 people took part in the Half Marathon and raised more than £50,000 for good causes.
We’re looking forward to another successful event this year, with over 1,000 people signed up already to run on 21 October 2018. If you’d like to find out more and potentially get involved, visit the website here.
These are just some of the examples of sporting challenges the team at Redbrik have taken on, and I’m proud to say the team give every single one 110% every time. We understand how much physical activity can help you to feel better, boost your health and have fun.
