Well, Redbrik is about to enter its third week of being ‘properly open’. It’s gone so fast and so far things are going better than we could have expected. Making the leap to start a new business is probably one of the scariest things you can do, well that and having a child (more of which later). We did quite a bit of research, but even so you never really know how it’s going to go play out until you actually get on and do it.
Being the new kid on the block in terms of estate agency was a pretty daunting thought. I’ll admit I had all the usual concerns of any new venture, would people call? Would people like our ideas? Would they trust a new business to sell something as important as their home, even though Julie and I are really experienced at what we do? However, I’ve been delighted by the fact that so many people are willing to give us a try. In fact, having started with one property on the market at Christmas, there were four on our books by the end of the first week. Since then we have arranged over 20 viewings, taken four offers and are about to agree our first sales!
It’s also great to see such a positive response to our office. There have been so many comments about how different it looks to a ‘normal’ estate agency and a couple of people have popped in simply to take a closer look at our furniture! Last week the office got a new addition in the form of a really cool wall mural which matches our distinctive branding.
Talking of new additions, it’s going to be a busy few months ahead for me as my wife is expecting our first baby on February 10th. We’ve been told that this date is Chinese New Year and to be born on that day would be incredibly lucky so fingers crossed! The blog will be regularly updated with baby news and pictures of our Redbrik baby when he/she arrives.
In the meantime please help keep my mind off the sleep deprivation which awaits by booking a valuation or pop in to the office for a cup of tea and to share your newborn survival tips with me!
