Julie nominated as Volunteer of the Year

We are very proud to announce that our Julie Murashe has been nominated for an award at the prestigious NHS Recognition and Achievement Awards 2019.

Julie, a Viewings Representative at our Millhouses office, has been shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year award as a result of her work with the Short Term Educational Programme (STEP), where she helps young people develop positive coping strategies for dealing with mental health issues.

Having previously worked as a Deputy Headteacher for more than 34 years, Julie began volunteering with STEP in her free time before also joining Redbrik earlier this year.

Julie said: “It’s such an honour to be one of four finalists in the NHS Volunteer of the Year category – I stand among some truly fantastic people who do amazing volunteer work in the city.

“I knew I couldn’t just stop working with young people when I retired – I made a lifelong commitment to working with young people and to enabling them to have a brighter future so working with STEP has helped me to continue doing what I love.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the response from my colleagues here at Redbrik – it’s great to be working with a company that demonstrates awareness of the importance of the mental health and wellbeing of its staff.”

David Cooper, Director at Redbrik, said: “We are so proud of Julie on being shortlisted for this fantastic award.

“She works tirelessly to help all those around her, not only in her volunteer work, but here at Redbrik too. We wish her every luck at the awards!”

The overall winner will be announced at a special award ceremony on Thursday 7 February at Holiday Inn Royal Victoria in Sheffield.
