What a fantastic few weeks of sport we have just witnessed. The Olympics have been amazing and the Team GB have been incredibly inspirational. I have been glued to the TV watching all different sports and naturally I really enjoyed watching the Brownlee brothers winning Gold and Silver medals in the men’s triathlon. The Yorkshire duo did us proud and absolutely smashed the competition.
I’m sure that people will have watched their performance and been encouraged to take up triathlon. The Olympic coverage has been great and I will miss it but it hasn’t done much for my sleep as I kept setting my alarm in the early hours to get up and watch the events!
This month I’ve been training hard for my half Ironman event (1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21km run) which takes place on 2nd September. I did a triathlon a couple of weeks ago on the same course as the half Ironman will be (but shorter distances) and it seems the training is going to plan as I won my age group and came 3rd overall female!
It has also been a busy month at home too with birthday parties for both of my children; my little boy who turned 6 years old, and my little girl who turned 4 years old. I like baking so was up in to the early hours making both of their cakes.
Finally, I am mega excited to have received an invite as a guest of honour to attend ‘Sheffield’s Celebration of Sport event’ in October. This is a gala dinner held at the English Institute of Sport with sporting greats like Jessica Ennis-Hill, Danny Willett, Joe Root and Kell Brook all being invited! I don’t get to out too often now, partly because of having too young children and partly because of training so hard so I’m really looking forward to this evening which falls out of season so I will be able to go and enjoy myself without worrying about how it might affect any events or training!
