Staff at Redbrik swapped their office attire for football kits when they took on a team from building consultancy Monaghans in a special fundraising match at newly promoted Premier League team Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium.
The match saw the Monaghans All-Stars claim a 4-2 victory, with Dean Spotswood among the scorers for Redbrik Rovers.
The match was the second charity game Redbrik have arranged, following last year’s fixture with Sheffield United Women which raised more than £1,500 for three nominated charities.
Organisers are hopeful that the event has topped last year’s fundraising total, with monies raised to be split equally between Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, St Luke’s Hospice and The Children’s Hospital Charity.
Redbrik director Mark Ross said: “We thoroughly enjoyed playing at Bramall Lane once more, our game against Monaghans All-Stars was a fantastic occasion – and congratulations to Monaghans on their victory!
“A huge thank you to all who contributed to the event – I’m sure we’ve raised a fantastic amount of money for our chosen charities so here’s to a rematch next year!
“I’d like to thank the team at Monaghans and the staff at Bramall Lane for giving us the opportunity to play and helping us raise crucial funds and awareness for three great charities.”
Dave McCarthy, Operations Director at Sheffield United, said: “We really enjoy offering our facilities at the end of the season for charity and corporate games. The charity games have been a huge success this year, raising a lot of money for many great, local causes.”
